POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE : Import/Export Specialist

DEPARTMENT : Warehouse and Distribution

POSITION REPORTING TO : Manager, Warehouse & Distribution

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent Full-Time

LOCATION: Mississauga, ON (100% Onsite Role)

General Description:

Accountable for being the point of contact with our third-party logistics provider for providing the required information needed to ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner while meeting the requirement of both internal and external customers. These responsibilities include freight invoice processing, ensuring all the proper documentation is correct for all shipments. Auditing for compliance of dangerous process and external customer performance/billing.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with external customers daily on the coordination of outbound orders for pick up, by ensuring all documentation (C of A, Bill of lading, supplier invoice) is accurate and forwarded to the appropriate Customer repository.
  • Site lead with our logistics service provider to resolve any issues for inbound shipments and resolve any compliance concerns (meets 3 times weekly)
  • Primary contact with the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) resolving customs issues.
  • Drives compliance requirements related to the CBSA for imports including classification of commodity codes to ensure we are not penalized.
  • Coordinates and load balances inbound receipts and schedules deliveries
  • Manage Dangerous Goods classification process for outbounds
  • Coordinates meetings with customer Logistics service providers
  • Train and obtain access to internal and external systems to facilitate data flow and transmission.
  • Monitor Carrier performance (delivery on time and damages)
  • Auditing, coding, and processing freight invoice
  • Build thorough knowledge of Sales & Distribution module for SAP. Including understanding and processing of sales reversals and credits.
  • Ensuring updated Harmonized System (HS) codes list is maintained for imported products and providing the proper codes to our 3PL to ensure a smooth.

Qualifications:

Experience and Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience import export coordination.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificates needed for all 3 modes of transport.
  • Trained in material handling equipment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and multi-taking skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills to drive to root cause.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships.
  • Sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and SAP (MERP).

Education

Required:

  • College Graduate
  • CITT Certification

Preferred:

  • College/University Graduate

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • 100% onsite role, involving a combination of office and warehouse environments
  • 37.5-hour work week
  • May require providing afterhours support to assist customs related issues
