Civil Operator – Vancouver Island / Temporary East Kootenay Assignment Vancouver Island, BC | Travel to East Kootenays | Full-Time Milestone Equipment Contracting Inc. is looking for experienced Civil Operators based on Vancouver Island who are willing to travel to the East Kootenays for a temporary work assignment, starting as soon as possible and continuing until approximately the fall. This is a great opportunity for skilled workers who want to take on a temporary out-of-town assignment. While working in the East Kootenays, Milestone will provide: Company-paid accommodations in a hotel or Airbnb $100 per day Living Out Allowance (LOA) Company-supported travel arrangements Following the East Kootenay assignment, employees will return to work on Vancouver Island, with the expectation that they are willing to travel back to the Kootenays or other project locations from time to time as operational needs require. What You’ll Be Doing As an Operator, you will support a variety of civil construction projects, including underground utilities, grading, earthworks, roadworks, and municipal infrastructure. Responsibilities include: Safe, experienced and efficient operation of heavy equipment Supporting site crews with day-to-day production activities Working collaboratively with Foremen, Superintendents, and labour crews Performing daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks Maintaining production targets while ensuring quality workmanship Supporting safe work practices and company safety standards Assisting with site organization and material handling as required Contributing to a strong, respectful, and team-oriented work environment What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will bring: Experience operating heavy equipment on mainline civil construction projects, including working at depths of 3 metres or greater and around live utilities Strong understanding of safe operating practices Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team Ability to adapt to changing project needs Strong communication and situational awareness Accountability, professionalism, and reliability Willingness to support crews outside equipment when needed Willingness and ability to work temporarily in the East Kootenays and travel as required in the future Experience operating the following equipment is considered an asset: Excavators Skid steers Loaders Packers Dozers Graders Why Join Milestone? $100/day LOA while working in the East Kootenays Company-paid hotel or Airbnb accommodations Company-supported travel Competitive compensation Extended health and dental benefits RRSP matching program Long-term employment opportunities on Vancouver Island following the temporary assignment Opportunities for future travel assignments as needed Supportive leadership focused on our values: Build, Learn, Lead, Grow At Milestone, we believe great projects are built by great people.
