The Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the providing overall payroll and human resources support to the company. This is a hands-on role delivering specialized payroll services and general human resources services, ensuring that activities align and comply with corporate policies, procedures, and plans and all relevant employment legislation in Canada and the USA. The Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator contributes to business goals and strategies while fostering the development of a collaborative and supportive organization.
This position is a key support to our manufacturing plant in Crossfield, AB. The successful candidate will be required to work two (2) days per week in that location with occasional travel to CORE’s Canadian Head Office in downtown Calgary, AB and hybrid otherwise.
This position provides key Payroll and Human Resources support to our manufacturing plant in Crossfield, AB. The role requires two days per week onsite, with occasional travel to CORE’s Canadian Head Office in Calgary, AB, and hybrid work otherwise.
The successful candidate will be responsible for full-cycle payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and contract employees in both Canada and the U.S. Responsibilities include administration of Payroll/HRIS systems, job updates in payroll, field ticketing and expense systems, compliance with tax laws, labour standards, and payroll regulations, as well as preparation and submission of government filings and year-end reporting (T4s, W2s, ROEs, etc.).
The role also manages employee benefit programs, including enrolments, payroll deductions, carrier liaison, claims support, and analysis of benefit plan design. Delivery of employee training and workshops related to benefits may be required.
In Human Resources, the incumbent will contribute to HR strategy and policy development, ensure compliance with employment legislation, and oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee development programs. Additional responsibilities include supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, advising management on organizational structure, staffing, succession planning, performance management, and employee relations, maintaining employee records, managing the annual performance review process, and researching funding or grant opportunities for recruitment initiatives.
This role is responsible for preparing bi-weekly, monthly, and year-end payroll, HR, and compliance reports, including audits, accruals, and ad-hoc reporting for Canada and the U.S.
Qualifications include post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with 5–7 years of progressive payroll and HR experience. Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Insperity), advanced Excel skills, and experience with CSV file import/export are required. A Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) and/or Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is preferred. Experience with benefits administration, provincial employment standards, and knowledge of U.S. employment and payroll laws are considered assets. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, attention to detail, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
