Material Supply and Logistics Dispatcher places trucks on construction jobs and other sites within the Greater Ottawa Area. The incumbent will be working in a fast-paced environment requiring the ability to be self-motivated, resilient and able to work with minimal supervision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Routing of Tomlinson-owned trucks on various sites

• Collaborate with operations managers, superintendents, foremen and others to ensure resources are distributed accordingly; attend daily meeting

• Coordinates with other Dispatchers and sales team on trucking operations and needs

• Helps with haul rates when required

• Reviews and approves rental ticket bookings

• Handles any disputes pertaining to rental tickets

• Assist accounting with external truck hiring packages, billing third party vendors and ensure proper payments have been made

• Inquiring and assisting with annual trucking rental rates

• Assist with finances related to logistics, Fiori and SAP

• Assist vendor with revenue issues

• Helps with questions from field staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be comfortable working in a digital environment

• Must be open minded and a forward thinker; adapt to curve balls and changes

• Strong Organizational Skills with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks while maintaining composure under pressure

• Demonstrate problem solving, trouble shooting and negotiating skills

• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and co-workers

• Ability to work flexible schedule, long hours and be on call every second weekend

• Work collaboratively as a team player and have the ability to work independently

• Some travel to job sites may be required

• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong technology skills is a must, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and SAP

• Familiarity of the transportation and logistics industries including dispatching equipment, crews, labour and materials considered an asset

• Construction experience or proven knowledge considered an asset; Understanding of weights and measurements

• Bilingual in French considered an asset

COMPESATION INFORMATION

The expected range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
