The Bakery Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production of freshly baked pastries, gourmet desserts, house-made fudge, specialty treats, and confections for special events. This role works in close collaboration with the Executive Chef to develop signature, Lodge-inspired menu items. The Bakery Supervisor provides leadership and support to the bakery team, and plays a key role in planning and executing dessert offerings for special events and Lodge functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Team
- Willingness to accept the most effective role.
- Develop and update menus based on market trends, guest preferences, and cost-efficiency opportunities.
- Ensure high food quality and presentation by setting and monitoring preparation and nutrition standards.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including scheduling, supervising, and supporting Pack Members.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations; train staff on equipment use and sanitation practices.
- Recruit, train, and coach team members while fostering a positive and performance-driven culture.
- Upholds service excellence by setting departmental standards and providing timely performance feedback.
- Contribute to strategic planning and implement operational improvements to enhance productivity and guest satisfaction.
- Actively support the department and organization goals through effective leadership and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all department performance reviews are completed.
- Close with an open mentality.
- Keep all areas in like-new condition and website ready.
Guest
- Ensure guests are greeted and acknowledged consistently, adhering to the 10/5 Rule.
- Identify current and emerging customer food preferences by building relationships and gathering insights from guests and key stakeholders.
- Communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
Financial
- Protecting company assets by adhering to policies and procedures.
- Price menu items by analyzing recipes and calculating food, labor, and overhead costs.
- Manage procurement by sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, estimating consumption, and overseeing food and supply orders.
Qualifications & Traits
- Experienced in delivering both positive and corrective feedback with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Hold a Red Seal Certification and provides strong leadership in team development and motivation.
- Effectively manages multiple priorities with minimal supervision in fast-paced environments.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of walking, standing, sitting, crawling, bending, twisting, reaching up to and including above shoulder level, crouching/squatting, and kneeling, for the duration of your shift.
- Capable of climbing multiple flights of stairs. Dexterity of the fingers and hands with ability to squeeze hands, twist and rotate wrists and elbows.
- Ability to do weight bearing tasks with arms, ex. lifting/using heavy pans, baking sheets, food pans etc.
- Ability to work for extended periods in varying temperature ranges.
- Ability to work in coolers or freezers for short periods of time.
- Ability to do repetitive tasks for an extended period of time.
- Visual acuity to see colour, near vision ability, tactile, smell and tasting abilities.
- Capable of working in a loud environment.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs.
- Ability to lift 15lbs overhead.
Additional Requirements
Newly hired Pack Members must submit a completed police clearance to Human Resources. Employment may begin before the results are received, based on the Pack Member’s confirmation that they have no unpardoned criminal convictions. If the clearance reveals a conviction, the employer may terminate employment on a case-by-case basis, providing only the minimum notice required under the Employment Standards Act, 2000, with no additional notice or compensation.
