25-049 – Primary Care Paramedics & Emergency Medical Responders
Location: Red Deer, Alberta
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Associated Ambulance IFT – Red Deer is currently accepting expressions of interest from ACoP-Registered Primary Care Paramedics (PCPs) and ACoP- Emergency Medical Responders for Permanent Full-Time positions.
This role reports directly to the Operations Supervisor or Manager and includes a mentorship component with experienced staff to support new providers in adapting to the unique environments in which we operate.
Schedule

Four weekdays per week

10.5-hour shifts

- Monday to Thursday
- Tuesday to Friday

Start and end times vary by shift

No night shifts
Position Overview
Interfacility Transfer (IFT) staff are responsible for the safe care and transportation of non-emergent patients during routine transfers between medical facilities.
Key duties include:

Assisting patients requiring mobility aids (walkers, wheelchairs, stretchers).

Completing and submitting all required documentation, including patient care reports.

Maintaining cleanliness of vehicles, equipment, and ambulance bays.

Ensuring transport units are fully stocked and operational.

Collaborating with physicians, nurses, emergency medical personnel, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Our IFT members primarily transport admitted patients for additional testing or treatment, as well as transfers between healthcare facilities and, in some cases, returning patients to their original location within Alberta Health Services Zones.
Physical Requirements
PCPs and EMRs at Associated Ambulance must be capable of:

Standing, walking, reaching, crouching, and bending for extended periods.

Safely lifting and transporting patients and equipment.

Providing patient care in physically awkward positions when required.
Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program
-
Active registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP)
-
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
-
Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator’s License with a clean driving abstract (to be submitted)

Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test within six months of start date

Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past three months
