ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK
There is a position available for an Accounts Payable Clerk at the District Administration Office. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, July 17, 2028.
Reporting to the Department Supervisor, this position is responsible for coordinating the payment of supplier invoices, expense vouchers and preparing payments.
Hours of work: (8) hours per day
Duties to Commence: September 8, 2026
Work Year Base: Ten (10) months per year
Commencing Salary: $29.88/hr.
Duties Include
Organizes and performs the data entry of invoices, cheque requisitions and expense vouchers requiring payment. Prepares and prints computer generated cheques and cheque registers. Reviews invoices submitted for errors and duplicate submissions. Investigates and resolves payable-related issues independently by communicating with external vendors and all levels of internal staff, with support from the Department Supervisor. Maintains accurate files of all invoices paid. Prepares statements used for income tax purposes upon request. Reconcile monthly general ledger accounts payable balances. Assists in research of accounts payable used for budget preparation. Interacts with bank regarding U.S. drafts and void cheques. Performs relief receptionist duties upon request. Performs monthly vendor statement reconciliations. Perform other job related duties as directed.
Qualification And Attributes
Grade 12 or equivalency, Minimum 2 years recent experience (within 5 years) in a computerized, batch-entry accounts payable system Satisfactory completion of at least two (2) semesters accredited Post Secondary accounting or equivalent Understanding of basic accounting principles Must meet clerical, typing (40 w.p.m.) and other standards set by the School District. The whole of the results of the testing will be considered in the hiring process. Accurate data entry skills Proficient Computer Skills Ability to work independently and set priorities Self motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision. Ability to manage difficult conversations in a professional manner. Is willing to take Level II first aid training if requested (available through the district) WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
