POSITION OVERVIEW
BDC Capital is the investment arm of BDC – Canada’s only bank devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs. We offer the full spectrum of risk capital, from seed investments to growth capital.
As part of the Fund Investments team, the Analyst, Fund Operations and Analytics will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence across fund administration and reporting processes. This role is ideal for someone who finds satisfaction in mastering structured, routine-driven tasks and thrives in a process-oriented environment. The successful candidate will be expected to consistently deliver high-quality work with precision and attention to detail, while also contributing to portfolio analytics initiatives from time to time. Their work will directly support the team’s broader goals of data integrity, investment insight, and operational efficiency.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Operations & Fund Administration
- Lead the fair value exercise with support from the front office, including data entry and coordination.
- Manage capital calls and distribution processes, including tracking and documentation.
- Maintain fund size and LP commitments in our portfolio management software (iLevel) and ensure data accuracy.
- Manage the reporting inbox: save financial statements and reports, action call/distribution notices, and respond to GP operational inquiries.
- Onboard new funds into iLevel and maintain internal databases.
- Prepare legal and closing amendments and coordinate GP background checks.
- Maintain document organization in SharePoint and Affinity, including pipeline-related materials.
Process Improvement & Training
- Prepare and update process guides to support continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with the Ops team to enhance worksheets and workflows related to iLevel.
- Provide training to new analysts on core operational processes (e.g., document management, capital calls, distributions, legal amendments, background checks).
Analytics & Reporting (Occasional Contribution)
- Assist in the development of key business metrics, benchmark indicators, and trending reports to monitor performance and support thought leadership
- Contribute to internal quarterly reporting including manager scoring, deal flow, and operations review.
- Contribute to the development of enhanced portfolio dashboards to guide Funds team decision-making through portfolio insights.
- Participate in team discussions, including pipeline management, investment opportunity reviews, and fund investment strategy.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience; exposure to venture capital/private equity funds is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in iLevel an asset.
- Demonstrated consistency and precision in executing structured tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication skills in English; French proficiency is an asset.
- Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn in a dynamic team environment.
