Role & Responsibilities

Step into a role that’s anything but ordinary. As an Electrical Technologist at EMS-Tech Inc., you’ll join a global engineering team tackling cutting-edge projects in the bulk material handling industry. From CAD drafting and PLC automation to VFD drive configuration and advanced electrical design, you’ll be hands-on with the systems that power massive machines moving resources around the world.

Here are some of the things you’ll be working on:

  • Work with a vibrant and energic team to fulfil client needs, delivering one of a kind marine and land-based systems around the world.

  • Integrate various electrical components into the systems. Such as transformers, switchgears, motor control centers, control instrumentation, etc.

  • Work within cross functional teams for commissioning system, upgrades and trouble shooting.

  • Designing custom systems and support the life cycle of the project.

  • Collaborate with clients and team members to deliver custom projects.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent level of combined education and experience

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical drafting, or equivalent, with an eye for precision.

  • Experience with PLC Programming (various languages), HMI Programming (various languages), and VFD drive parameter setting, field device programming etc.

  • Ability to verify the accuracy of drawings, ensuring precision in layout and design details is considered an asset.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with suppliers and design team members

Nice to Have

  • CET designation with OACETT

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for calculations, data tracking and analysis.

  • Solid understanding of electrical standards like CEC, NEC, IEEE, IEC, ABS, Lloyds, DNV, etc.
