About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a senior level Corporate Controller to join our finance team.
As Director of Corporate Control, you who will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and control of the company's financial activities. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will demonstrate ethical leadership and business integrity, manage and lead the finance control team, and provide insights and recommendations on the financial direction of Steam Whistle Brewing.
You will have both a day-to-day and long-term impact on company operations, helping us to analyze, assess and improve our financial position. As an experienced financial professional, you will understand finance and accounting best practices with a demonstrated ability to deliver meaningful improvement in financial performance in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, development and direction to the finance team
- Cash management, budgeting, and financial reporting, helping to drive the company’s financial strategy.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with ASPE.
- Ensure Steam Whistle Brewing is in compliance with federal and provincial financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing compliance, and take action to resolve non-compliance risks.
- Ensure that all financial procedures and statements are accurate and up to date in preparation of the annual audit. Oversee the annual audit process in consultation with your financial team, ensuring all account reconciliations are complete and accurate.
- Liaise with government officials and auditors pertaining to taxation, payroll and any other relevant accounting procedures.
- Manage the development and rollout of the annual operating, capital, and program budgets, collaborating closely with the executive team
- Develop cash flow forecast and management practices, ensuring it is compatible with company operations, by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal control activities of the organization.
- Collaborate with the senior managers to efficiently develop proposal budgets, provide access to project finance information, and manage contract/grant compliance and reporting.
- Perform risk management through analysis of company assets and liabilities and support evaluation of new capital investments.
- Monitor financial performance with tracking, establish corrective measures as needed.
Hybrid- this is a hybrid role, spending 3 days per week at our Etobicoke offices ( with occasional days at our downtown location) and 2 days per week working remotely.

Salary Range – the salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000. The salary will reflect your experience, skills and perspective you bring to the role. Throughout the interview process we take a thoughtful and transparent approach to compensation, balancing market data, internal equity and the impact that you'll have on our business.
Skills and Qualifications:
- CPA with 8-10 years’ experience working at a senior level in finance leadership.
- Must have strong analytical and financial planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills, able to successfully lead, mentor and influence at all levels.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and familiar with its standards.
- High level of common sense, with ability to work autonomously and efficiently.
- Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality and an ability to prioritize workload.
- Adaptable to evolving environments.
- Experience in Hospitality would be an asset.
- Ability to work well with senior leadership team.
- Provide insight and recommendations regarding company finances.
- Ability to make decisions and manage the accounting and financial processes for the company.
- Superb accounts software user experience with advanced Excel skills
- Ability to communicate clearly, conveying information and ideas.
