About the role
Our client, a well-established law firm located in Ottawa, is seeking a detail-oriented Personal Injury Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to join their legal support team in a collaborative and professional environment. Working closely with a Lawyer, this role will support daily legal administrative, clerking, and file management functions while ensuring efficient operations and exceptional client service. Please note, this role is fully on-site during the probationary period, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid work model of one day remote per week upon successful completion of probation.

Compensation & Benefits Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 (commensurate with experience) Comprehensive health & dental benefits following the probationary period RRSP matching program following the probationary period Paid vacation and sick days Hybrid work model (one day remote per week following the successful completion of the probationary period) Key Responsibilities Provide legal administrative and clerking support to a Lawyer within a busy Personal Injury practice Manage plaintiff-side files from intake through to resolution while ensuring all matters progress efficiently Maintain calendars, limitation periods, and critical deadlines to ensure timely file progression Coordinate with medical providers to obtain medical records and reports, and follow up on outstanding requests Communicate professionally with clients, insurers, medical professionals, and other stakeholders regarding ongoing matters Draft, prepare, organize, and assemble legal documents, correspondence, and briefs Review files proactively, identify next steps, and bring forward outstanding issues requiring attention Maintain electronic and physical client files in accordance with firm procedures while ensuring accurate document management and file organization Redact confidential information and maintain organized, accurate legal records and supporting documentation Provide regular status updates, prioritize competing deadlines, and support the day-to-day management of a high-volume Personal Injury practice Qualifications 8+ years of experience within a law firm environment, including at least 4–5 years supporting a Personal Injury practice Experience supporting Lawyers within a plaintiff-side Personal Injury practice is strongly preferred Strong knowledge of claims management, limitation periods, and litigation deadlines Experience coordinating medical records, medical reports, and insurance-related documentation Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and proactive file management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively within a high-volume practice Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
