About the role
The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Life Sciences Portfolio, the Instructor will be responsible for classroom, lab, online and/or practicum site instruction. The schedule will be provided for the entire academic year. You are a Registered ACP interested in a rewarding career in education. Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
The Role
-
- Provide high-quality education to students in the classroom, lab, online and practicum settings
- Review, revise and develop course outlines and curriculum
- Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners as needed
- Evaluate student progress and achievement
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
- Facilitate accreditation requirements
- Attend team meetings, participate in program planning and quality improvement processes and implement recommendations
- Promote and support SAIT’s and Health and Public Safety’s goals and mission statements
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
- Practicing Advanced Care Paramedic with a minimum of 3-5 years’ of work experience.
- Must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP).
- Master’s Degree and previous teaching experience would be considered an asset
Skills Required

- Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others.
- Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course subjects to diverse students and learning styles.
- Possess a positive, respectful attitude, and a high commitment to student success and collaboration.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills are essential. Basic level proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
