Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.

The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

SUPERVISOR, MILL OPERATIONS The Supervisor, Mill Operations ensures the safe and efficient operation of the mill, crushing plants and tailing facilities. They meet or exceed safety, production, costs, and recovery targets, while ensuring OHSA and environmental compliance.

The Supervisor, Mill Operations provides support and expertise to the department through risk assessments, investigations, procedure development and non-routine task development.

Key Responsibilities Area 1:

Leading and coordinating Mill Operations resources.

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Supervise mill personnel, field operators and equipment to deliver operational excellence.
  • Understand mill plans and mill maintenance activities and collaborate closely with other shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in preparing and coordinating mill supporting activities.
  • Lead and empower employees in achieving world class mill operations and improve employee work performance and efficiency through mentorship and feedback.
  • Create space for the team to be effective in delivering results.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment.
  • Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business plans and mill operations targets.
  • Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the current and future needs of Côté Gold.
  • Ensure the required resources (people and equipment) are in place to achieve targets.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching.
  • Offer new approaches, methods, or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
  • Administer and comply with system requirements in a manner consistent with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform worksite inspections and safe work observations; participate in and lead investigations.

Area 2 Operational excellence.

  • Seek opportunities to improve mill operations.
  • Be proactive and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
  • Be obsessive in mill operational workmanship, quality and housekeeping.
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Continually seek to improve your skills as a Supervisor, Mill Operations.
  • Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
  • Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
  • Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost).

Area 3 Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

  • Provides leadership and direction to the various circuit operators, labourers and stakeholders to ensure that the business and mill plan objectives are met.
  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.

Job Qualifications Minimum Requirements And Nice To Haves minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • Ministry Supervisor Training is considered an asset.
  • Surface miner Common Core is considered an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • 3 or more years of experience as a supervisor or higher.
  • 3 or more years of experience a in a gold processing plant.
  • 5 or more years milling and crushing experience.
  • Previous exposure to lean and multi-disciplinary team leadership is desirable, but not essential.

Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and empower multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal, written and non-verbal.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Understand efficiency drivers in a milling operation.
  • Self-motivated individual who is driven to find solutions and strive for continuous improvement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
