Switchboard Operator
About the role
The Switchboard Operator is responsible for responding to incoming and outgoing calls and requests for non-technical information. The Switchboard Operator directs calls to appropriate areas of the facilities. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or recognized equivalent is required. Six months recent related Switchboard experience strongly preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook and Excel) required. Excellent listening and comprehension skills. Broad knowledge of organizational interdependencies. Attention to detail while processing large volumes of work. Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent communications skills involving speaking, listening, reading and writing. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Emergency Communications Certificate is an asset. Experience in a hospital environment preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Ability to respond in a direct, calm and professional manner to emergency and stressful situations including but not limited to Emergency Code Condition calls, medical emergency calls and fire alarm calls. Working knowledge of medical terminology, with a medical terminology course, preferred.
