Diagram is a Venture Builder and Investor with over $400M in assets under management, specializing in launching and scaling ventures in Fintech and ClimateTech. Since 2016, Diagram has collaborated with exceptional founders to launched and invested in more than 35 ventures, combining access to capital, hands-on support, and a deep ecosystem of partners to catalyze the growth of world-changing companies.

At Diagram, we have two different strategies in place to deploy capital:
- Venture Builder: We ideate, derisk, and launch ventures from scratch. This includes everything from developing a thesis on a problem space, testing different solutions, identifying first customers, assembling a founding team, and securing early stage venture funding.
- Venture Investor: Founders come to Diagram to pitch for capital. We invest in early stage companies that align with our fund’s strategy.
We’re looking to add another class of interns to our team for Summer 2026 to help us de-risk different startup ideas under our venture builder or venture investor teams. If you are a student passionate about contributing to the startup ecosystem, this role is for you!
What we are looking for :
As a Diagram intern you will work hand in hand with the Diagram team to evaluate new ventures based on our investment criteria, playing a key role in going deep into new themes and ideas that will turn into companies and investments.
There are open positions on the Venture Creation team and the Venture Investment team. Positions are either based in Montreal or Toronto.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing investment theses and perspectives on opportunity areas;
- Generating and pitch new venture ideas;
- Conducting user and market research, performing market sizing, analyzing competitive landscape, assessing business models and unit economics to evaluate potential ideas;
- Creating pitch decks and investment memos
We’re looking for students in their ultimate or penultimate year of studies. The ideal candidate:
- Intellectually Curious: Insatiable thirst for knowledge on how / why things work
- Professional: Takes immense pride in the detail, thoroughness, accuracy, and overall quality of their work. Capable of engaging and developing relationships with industry leaders, founders and other investors
- Self-directed: Works with team members to complete tasks without someone looking over their shoulder
- Entrepreneurial: Demonstrated interest and passion for the startup ecosystem;
- A+ Communicator: Comfortable pitching ideas, summarizing findings, and writing out clear theses
- Analytical Mindset: Excellent analytical skills and the ability to build financial models, conduct market sizing;
- Bonus: Experience leveraging Gen AI tools for research (ex. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, etc) and/or to bring product visions to life (ex. Loveable)
Candidates must have the right to work in Canada for the period specified to be considered for this position. No support to obtain the right to work will be provided.
