Victoria, BC Expected Salary: $80,458 to $98,337
In determining the final salary, Babcock will consider a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and be presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

In this role, you will:

Experience in welding or with welding procedures, specifications, welding inspection / verification,
-
Experience with NDT (Non-destructive Testing) or non-destructive testing documentation, requirements, procedures and records,
-
Qualification as welding inspector and/or non-destructive testing inspector is definitely an asset,
-
Technically support work in one of the following disciplines:
-
Auxiliary systems (all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC and hotel systems that enable a submarine to operate),
-
Electrical and combat systems,
-
Structural (review inspection and welding of vessel hull, tanks, structure),
-
Undertake embedded quality support activities for submarine Extended Docking Work Periods (EDWP), and other submarine work periods,
-
Interpret Department of National Defence (DND) material certification requirements and work scope to define specific quality records required for each task,
-
Review Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) documentation provided by suppliers, sub-contractors and DND,
-
Through a combination of job records inspection, analysis, and audit processes, review technical documentation to ensure full compliance with submarine Quality Assurance and Material Certification requirements,
-
Inspect submarine First Level (safety critical) technical documentation,
-
Provide constructive feedback to stakeholders regarding common shortfalls in Objective Quality Evidence or work-related documentation, to support continuous improvement,
-
Provide advice regarding quality requirements to Planning, Production, Engineering and Commissioning departments,
-
Liaise with the customer (DND) and other stakeholders to ensure that all Material Certification documentation meets the directed requirements,
-
Update Configuration changes within Submarine Definition Database (SDD),
-
Coordinate drawing and document update requirements in our tracking tool to ensure the boat’s configuration is maintained.

Work within the customers DRMIS tool (SAP) as required to maintain the submarines configuration,
-
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate brings:
- Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Clearance. Specifically North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) SECRET and subsequently a Controlled Goods clearance,
- Registered to practice as a Certified Mechanical Technologist,
- Minimum four (4) years' experience performing work similar to that described in the Project Work Statement (PWS), and demonstrated knowledge of marine systems,
- Previous military experience is an asset,
- An accredited technical college diploma, or an acceptable combination of training and experience performing similar work,
- Practical experience with technical documentation review/analysis and with quality assurance processes,
- Demonstrated knowledge of marine systems and/or submarine technical experience is an asset,
- Qualification and experience as an auditor are an asset,
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills,
- Ability to review and interpret technical and systems drawings and provide advice as required.
