About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)

is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures

continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,

understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.

Reporting to the Coordinator ‑ Health Records, the Transcription Editor IV interprets and transcribes complex clinical

documentation by clinicians regarding patient assessment, work up, therapeutic procedures, diagnosis, prognosis,

etc. in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services.

Qualifications:

* Combined medical terminology, transcription and voice editing skill sets to transcribe 115 minutes/ day

* Competency in speech‑recognition editing functions

* Ability to type a minimum of 75 words per minute

* Minimum education level of medical secretarial college diploma or equivalent in work experience and continuing

education

* Minimum two years experience medical transcription in an acute health care centre

* Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, oncology,

diagnostic tests,

laboratory, and pharmacology

* Advanced knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices

* Excellent written and oral communication skills including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style

* Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles

* Ability to operate designated word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment, and other equipment as

specified

* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

* Ability to work under pressure with a fast paced, high volume workload

* Ability to maintain concentration for extended periods

* Excellent listening skills

* Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination

Salary Range: $30.656 to 31.332
