We provide health system leaders in Canada with independent evidence and advice, empowering them to make informed decisions about drugs, health technologies, and broader health system strategies and investments, and we collaborate with national and international partners to enhance our collective impact.

CDA-AMC was named 1 of the National Capital Region’s top employers for the third year in a row. This recognition celebrates our dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that nurtures growth and innovation. It reaffirms our ongoing efforts to create an outstanding workplace where our employees thrive and feel valued.

Hybrid Work Arrangement

At CDA-AMC, employees participate in a hybrid workspace arrangement that allows for flexibility and enhanced work-life balance. We believe in the positive impact of in-person collaboration and the importance of team building. This position follows a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 2 days onsite, though this requirement may vary based on business and operational needs.

Primary Focus

We are seeking to fill a current opening on our Engagement team. The Manager, Patient and Clinician Engagement, through strong leadership and a collaborative approach, oversees and enables a team of professionals responsible for leading, advising, coordinating, documenting, and reporting on the organization’s partner engagement. Through thoughtful engagement with clinicians, patients, caregivers, community (persons with lived and living experience), and the associations that represent them, the Manager ensures these partners are informed and involved in the organization's work, with their input and perspectives included in the evidence products, services, and recommendations.

The Manager sparks and encourages continuous growth in this area and provides related guidance to other teams in the organization to improve our partner relationships and the quality, relevance, and significance of the evidence provided to inform drug and health technology decisions in Canada’s jurisdictions and health systems.

What do the daily responsibilities look like?

On any given day, the Manager, Patient and Clinician Engagement will:

  • oversee the full spectrum of Patient and Clinician Engagement accountabilities by providing leadership, subject matter expertise, and clarity of expectations and objectives to team members to ensure the quality and timely execution of deliverables and results
  • champion the development and implementation of work and project plans, processes, tools, communication, activities, and events, to embed interested party involvement in evidence products and services and organizational initiatives, by leading the team’s contributions to:
  • the ongoing development, recruitment, and support of an organizational patient partner community and network
  • outreach and relationship-building with patient groups, clinicians, and associations that enable awareness of the organization’s mandate and work and provide opportunities for their involvement and the contribution of lived and living experience, expertise, and perspectives
  • coordination of cross-functional internal collaboration in support of the advancement of engagement-related initiatives
  • lead, inspire, enable, and challenge team members so they may maximize their potential, develop key skill sets, and advance their leadership behaviours and collaborative approach to foster and maintain meaningful and strategic relationships
  • foster an internal culture of purpose-focused planning and engagement, including multigroup and multiperspective dialogue and consultations
  • monitor and assess the effectiveness of engagement activities, support, and processes with affected and interested patient groups, clinician groups, and contributing partners, ensuring a holistic approach that instills inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility as a guiding principle
  • monitor national and international developments related to patient, community, public, and clinician engagement in health technology assessment to identify and communicate any changes, challenges, and opportunities for consideration in evolving the organization’s engagement internally
  • where and when appropriate, engage and network with international health technology assessment entities and associations for the purpose of gathering insight into good practice in patient, clinician, and association engagement
  • participate in the annual business planning process and critical core operational planning for Patient and Clinician Engagement, ensuring appropriate reporting on progress, including any data analytics requirements, while effectively managing and prioritizing the team’s workload and budget.

Is this the right role for you?

The Manager, Patient and Clinician Engagement will likely have:

  • completion of postsecondary education in a relevant field, such as Health or Social Service Administration, Health Policy, or Public Administration, coupled with related progressive health system experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • previous direct professional engagement experience in patient and/or clinician organizations
  • strategic mindset with strong people leadership and mentorship skills and experience
  • strong knowledge of and experience with partner engagement principles and good practices, and engagement of health system partners with lived and living experience in accessing health care and/or people who are otherwise affected by drug and health technology decisions (e.g., patients, caregivers, community, associations, clinicians)
  • exceptional partner relationship management experience with the ability to foster trust and open communications
  • the ability to lead and influence with and without authority
  • engaging presentation skills coupled with strong written and verbal communications
  • the ability to manage concurrent initiatives and projects and prioritize the work of the team and the needs of employees, partners, and the organization effectively

What will set you apart?

The following qualifications may help you stand out:

  • fluency in French.

What’s in it for you?

At CDA-AMC, you will find:
