Avenue Code is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to support a high-impact Business Intelligence modernization initiative for one of Canada's leading digital organizations.

Our client is accelerating the migration of its enterprise reporting platform from IBM Cognos to Amazon QuickSight on its AWS OneData platform. In this role, you'll work alongside Business Performance, Engineering, and Data teams to rebuild reporting assets, recreate complex reporting logic, and help successfully decommission the legacy Cognos environment.

This is a fast-paced, business-critical engagement with an aggressive delivery timeline. We're looking for a senior engineer with strong Analytics Engineering and Business Intelligence expertise who can work independently while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver modern cloud-based reporting solutions.

This position is open to candidates currently based in Canada.

Responsibilities

Rebuild enterprise reports and dashboards from IBM Cognos into Amazon QuickSight. Recreate complex SQL queries, business logic, and calculated metrics used in existing reporting assets. Design, develop, and publish interactive QuickSight dashboards and reports. Support report deployment and production publishing activities. Partner closely with Business Performance stakeholders during report validation and user acceptance. Collaborate with Engineering and Data teams to ensure data quality and reporting consistency throughout the migration. Design and maintain scalable reporting data models. Contribute to AWS-based analytics workflows, including data pipelines and deployment processes. Participate in the successful decommissioning of the legacy Cognos platform. Follow source control and collaborative development best practices using GitHub.

Required Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience with Amazon QuickSight. Experience developing enterprise reports and interactive dashboards. Experience publishing and deploying QuickSight reporting solutions. Advanced SQL skills. Strong Analytics Engineering or Data Engineering background. Experience designing and implementing complex reporting logic. Experience building and maintaining reporting data models. Hands-on AWS experience, including: Amazon S3, Deployment and configuration, Data pipelines Experience with GitHub or other source control platforms. Previous experience supporting Business Intelligence platform modernization or reporting migration initiatives. Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with both technical and business stakeholders.

Nice To Have Skills

Experience migrating from IBM Cognos to Amazon QuickSight. Experience within Financial Services or another highly regulated industry. Experience with other enterprise Business Intelligence platforms. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for reporting automation or analytics workflows. Experience working in cloud-first data modernization initiatives.
