Our Shift Managers play a crucial role in our distribution team. As the Shift Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the operational and human aspects of production within the Distribution Centre, while ensuring prompt, efficient and secure movement of merchandise. Led by the Distribution Manager, this position will best suit someone with strong leadership abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a readiness to adapt and thrive within a team environment.
Shift Available:
Afternoon Shift – Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 11:00pm
Ready to make an impact? Here’s how:
- Direct day-to-day operation of the shift setting standards for performance and monitoring all Distribution Staff activities, ensuring equity and fairness across the shift.
- Ensure Team Member compliance with policies and procedures, while maintaining a high level or morale.
- Supervise and direct Team Members in the performance of daily activities and recommends improvements to achieve operational efficiency.
- Responsible for engaging Supervisors and Team Members through feedback, ideas and follow-up using an open communication approach to enhance and maintain team building.
- Plan daily shift activities including order filing, shipping, receiving, custodial, maintenance issues etc.
- Effectively communicate corporate, departmental and operational information to Shift Supervisors and Team Members in a timely manner.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of Health, Safety, Accident Investigation, Human Rights, Employment Standards, Labour Relations Act to ensure compliance and due diligence.
- Schedule, track and monitor Team Member attendance records. Conduct regular performance appraisals and handle disciplinary processes as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
We’re looking for:
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of Home’s business and culture is beneficial. Working knowledge of warehouse systems, processes, and productivity standards.
- Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities to manage, motivate and direct an effective team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with strong planning, organizational and delegation skills.
- Self-motivated and adaptable with a strong understanding of distribution fundamentals.
- Ability to recognize, assess and implement process improvement initiatives. Ability to learn and operate new machinery and systems.
- Effective computer skills with knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook, TimeZone and the Warehouse Management system.
- Must be willing to obtain a valid first aid certificate and receive defibrillator training, which can be acquired through Home Hardware training.
- Ability and availability to work extended hours and/or weekday shifts when required.
- The ability to be onsite 5 days a week at our Wetaskiwin Dealer Support Centre, to accommodate the needs of the role.

- The expected starting salary range for this role is $68,400 - $89,800; the final offer will reflect relevant skills and experience.
