Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the inaugural Vice President, Transitional Health leads operations and stewards growth and evolution of this new division, advancing innovative post-acute care models by developing and maintaining strong partnerships with health system leaders. Accountable for both patient and business outcomes, the Vice President oversees existing service agreements with Nova Scotia Health and develops responsive growth strategies aligned with broader system needs.

What this role entails:

Utilizing the vast expertise and resources of Shannex, the Vice President leads divisional corporate functions for Transitional Health in partnership with corporate subject matter experts, including budgeting, workforce planning, risk management and financial modeling, while bringing an understanding of the realities of publicly funded acute and post-acute care models. Success depends on real-time collaboration with governments and health authorities and adaptability to develop best practices in real time, ultimately ensuring the highest levels of care in complex clinical environments.

This role is based at Shannex’s head office in Bedford, Nova Scotia, with regular on-site presence and travel required.

As the ideal candidate, you:

  • Are a seasoned leader with broad business and healthcare acumen; experience in healthcare operations, transitional, community or post-acute care and working within a unionized environment are considered assets.
  • Bring progressive leadership experience designing innovative models of care and service delivery.
  • Excel at navigating complex systems and building productive relationships across government, public healthcare and industry.
  • Have a proven track record leading cross-functional and inter-organizational teams in a highly complex clinical environment.
  • Are recognized for driving operational efficiency in fast-paced, entrepreneurial settings.
  • Possess strong analytical capabilities, including data-driven decision making, financial modeling and risk management.
  • Are adaptable, agile and self-directed, with a focus on practical, actionable solutions.
  • Have experience negotiating and managing service agreements and ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Hold a Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field (considered an asset).
