PSPNET Overview

PSPNET offers free and confidential internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (ICBT) developed with and for Canadian first responders, other public safety personnel (PSP), and their spouses or significant others. ICBT teaches traditional cognitive behavioural information and skills in an online platform, over several weeks, with or without optional therapist support via secured messaging or phone calls.

PSPNET is funded by Public Safety Canada and located at the University of Regina. The founder and director, Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos, is an internationally recognized leader in online interventions. Other team members consist of English and French clinicians, researchers, and administrative staff who are located across Canada and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of our ICBT programs.

PSPNET is hiring a new Research Associate.

Primary responsibilities will include:

a) Attending weekly meetings with their supervisor, full PSPNET team, and research team

b) Assisting with portal management, trouble shooting, and testing including uploading new or revised course materials to our online platform

d) Exporting and cleaning client data for research and outreach purposes

e) Analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data

organizing associated study materials, monitoring data quality/adherence to protocols, and preparing all necessary REB reports

f) Contributing to the conceptualization of new research projects and execution of ongoing manuscripts, presentations, and reports via literature reviews, methodology, results, and discussions

g) Identifying and gaining permission to use new and relevant questionnaires

h) Disseminating data to internal or external staff through plain-language summaries, infographics, or other knowledge translation products

Other responsibilities may include:

a) Writing, reviewing, and/or submitting new or amended ethics applications including renewals

b) Qualitative data collection (interviews)

c) Assisting with grant preparation

d) Supporting outreach efforts such as booths, webinars or meetings

e) Onboarding and/or training staff or students

f) Assisting with some administrative and project coordination responsibilities (e.g., tracking milestones, timelines, updating policies and procedures)

g) Responding to client emails and/or voicemails

h) Assisting with new or ongoing working groups

i) Translating English and French materials

j) Related research responsibilities

Please note that onboarding, ongoing training, and supervision will be provided. And flexible work environments are available (remote or hybrid) upon request.

Position Requirements

Required

a) Fluent in English (strong written and oral communication skills)

b) Masters in psychology, educational psychology, social work, or related disciplines

c) Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team

d) Excellent organizational and time management skills

e) Research experience with human participants (preferably related to mental health)

f) Excellent problem solving skills and comfort with flexible and evolving responsibilities

g) Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality and confidentiality

h) Strong computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

i) Strong SPSS experience
j) Dissemination experience (e.g., preparation of manuscripts, presentations)

Preferred

a) Fluent in French (strong written and oral communication skills)
b) Knowledge in:

  • Mental health (e.g., anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress, sleep, occupational stress)
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (i.e., online or in-person)
  • First responders or other public safety personnel (e.g., border services, communications, corrections, emergency management, fire, operational intelligence, paramedics, policing, search and rescue)

c) Data management experience including research ethics applications

d) Web content management systems experience (e.g., WordPress)

e) Curriculum, course, and/or instructional design experience

f) Research platforms experience (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap)

g) Reference management experience (i.e., Zotero)

h) Knowledge translation experience (e.g., infographics, flyers)

Other Assets

Pay Grade As Per CUPE 5791 Research Salary Range 65,000-80,000 annually Status Term Work Hours

This position will be full-time (Monday to Friday), 40 hours a week for a 1-year term with the possibility of extension, depending on funds.
