Job Overview
Kingston is currently seeking a Senior Marketing Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for accounting and back-office processing functions in our Marketing division, which purchases, blends, and sells crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs).
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for NGL and Crude Oil accounting transaction life cycle
- Ensure the accurate recording of revenues, cost of crude purchases, accruals, and monthly settlements with counterparties
- Perform month-end close process for the Company’s marketing activities including but not limited to inventory valuation and intercompany eliminations
- Prepare analysis of accounting results and investigate differences from expectations for internal results meetings. Assist with preparation of commentary for senior management
- Work closely with traders and schedulers as their Finance partner
- Support the preparation of month end reporting and the quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A under IFRS and other regulatory filings including statutory audits
- Assist with the preparation of forecast and budget information
- Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting and analysis
- Participate in cross-functional projects and special initiatives as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree majoring in Accounting or Finance
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with 10+ years of post-designation experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in Marketing Accounting
- Proficient in technical aspects of NGL and Crude Oil pricing
- Proven ability to recognize the need for continuous improvement and innovation while remaining focused on maximizing resources and productivity
- Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to take ownership of projects and deadlines
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate recommendations, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other departments, and tailor communications to different audiences
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced proficiency using Excel and Word
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset
Kingston Midstream is committed to providing a flexible work environment to allow office employees to work both from the office and from a remote location. This position may work remotely Mondays and Fridays and in Kingston Midstream’s Calgary office Tuesday to Thursday.
