Who Are You?
The General Foreman is responsible for managing all production activities within the shop ensuring that operations run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with customer expectations and organizational standards. Reporting to the Operations Manager this role provides leadership across the full scope of shop floor operations, serving as the primary point of accountability for safety, human resources management, productivity, quality assurance, communication and cost control.

- Fosters an environment that facilitates active participation and staff involvement, offers job satisfaction, encourages creativity and is conducive to learning, development, advancement and the need to strive for excellence at all times
- Maximizes the talent of available staff, delegating responsibilities and making each individual accountable.
- Enforces government legislation and all company policies and procedures pertaining to human resources, administration, and safety
- Establishes methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments
- Ensures resources and necessary tools are available to employees to complete assigned projects
- Ensure commitments for delivery and quality are met in a cost effective and efficient manner
- Recruiting, interviewing, and selecting the best candidate for the right job, when necessary,
- Providing continuous feedback to employees
- Conducting formal performance evaluations on staff on a regular basis and/or informal
- Communicates to the operations, sales and engineering staff immediately of production problems that may delay orders
- Communicates to Management all pertinent production concerns
- Promotes continuous improvement of product and streamlines procedures without compromising on product quality or endangering the health and well being of employees
- Discusses solutions with personnel/ customers on issues pertaining to re-work and warranties
Sound Familiar?
- A minimum of 10+ years of directly related experience, of which 2 years must be at a supervisory level
- 2+ years’ experience in similar capacity in a similar trade is preferred
- Journeyman Ticket or Red Seal Certification in relevant trade
- Knowledge of all safety practices
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Strong organizational skills to plan out and coordinate work
- Excellent decision making skills
- Strong problem solving skills to methodically and logically work through technical and non-technical problems
- Patient, confident, attentive, and results oriented
- Good understanding in human resources management
- Physically fit to perform work
- Proficient computer skills to use various software applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, Internet, etc.)
Vacancy Status:
This position is currently vacant and available for immediate hire.
Due to safety considerations and the physically demanding nature of the role, successful candidates will undergo a pre-employment medical evaluation upon hiring. Passing the Level 1 fitness test on your first attempt is a bona fide occupational requirement (BFOR).
