About the role

The Opportunity

Keyano College’s University Studies department is currently seeking a Contract Instructor to teach the following course for the Winter 2026 semester (January 8 – April 28, 2026):

  • SOCY 100 – Introductory Sociology

Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Primarily teach their specific courses across the curriculum
  • Maintaining office hours and student mentorship/engagement
  • Maintaining professional competence and knowledge of subject matter

Qualifications

  • Minimum Master’s of Arts & Humanities or a related field. A degree in Sociology will be considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 2 years cumulative post-secondary teaching experience

  • Proficient with the use of learning technologies

  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills

  • Demonstrated excellent communication, planning, time management, and organizational skills

  • Dependable and resourceful team member with a proven track record of managing multiple competing priorities with a calm professional approach

  • Commitment to inclusion and diversity

Compensation and Benefits

  • Placement on the wage grid is reflective upon educational and experiential qualifications.
