ArcelorMittal Dofasco Job Posting Financial Department SOx Compliance Senior Specialist (Permanent Position) ArcelorMittal Dofasco is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced SOx Compliance Senior Specialist to join our Finance team. In this critical role, you will support the SOx Manager in designing and executing the annual SOx compliance program for internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) across Dofasco. You’ll lead complex assessments, support risk scoping, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity of our financial reporting processes. This position offers the opportunity to influence process improvements and contribute to the continuous enhancement of our compliance framework.

Overall Responsibility

  • Design and execute the annual SOx compliance program for internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) at Dofasco and any in-scope subsidiaries and joint ventures to support ArcelorMittal’s annual SOx certification in conjunction with the Manager SOx Compliance.
  • Perform complex SOx assessments over a broad range of business cycles.
  • Participate in annual scoping and risk assessment.

Accountabilities

  • Participate in the annual scoping and risk assessment review with management. Adjust assessment to reflect areas of concern raised by management.
  • Execute an annual review of design assessment of business processes including the drafting and updating of documentation standards such as flowcharts, narratives, risk, and control matrices.
  • Schedule and execute the test of design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting to ensure on-going review and monitoring throughout the year.
  • Evaluate financial reporting controls in business processes and identify opportunities to enhance internal control processes.
  • Monitor and report on identified control gaps and status of remediation plans.
  • Assess and provide feedback on the adequacy of management’s remediation plan to address identified gaps based on understanding of SOX requirements and industry practices.
  • Review and update compliance documentation and provide feedback to junior staff (where required) to ensure assigned business cycles are fully documented and that the design of internal controls supports the certification requirements. Ensure consistency of documentation, testing and methodology across the various in-scope business cycles.
  • Provide Dofasco management with advice and recommendations on how financial reporting controls can be improved.
  • Lead SOx Compliance entry and exit meetings.
  • Within the AuditBoard tool, maintain the controls framework, Risk and Controls matrix and all other documentation and support notes.
  • Provide input to support the continuous improvement of the SOx Compliance process.
  • Provide work direction as required to junior SOx Compliance team members regularly.
  • Effectively coordinate SOx activities with process owners, Internal Assurance and external auditors ensuring a productive team environment.
  • Conduct special SOx Compliance analysis and participate as a member on business process improvement projects regularly.
  • Develop and maintain a broad internal and external network.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with one or more professional accounting groups to further support the improvement of the SOx Compliance program and to maintain awareness of emerging SOx compliance issues.
  • Develop and make presentations on SOx Compliance related issues to groups internally and externally.
  • Execute the process for the Due Diligence Checklists for the Internal Controls Committee on a quarterly basis.

Education & Accreditation

  • A 4-year university degree (e.g., business) and more than 5 years of job-related experience is required.
  • Prior Big 4 accounting firm experience is an asset.
  • At least one advanced professional designation (e.g., CPA, CMA, MBA, CGA) is required.
  • Two or more professional designations are an asset.

Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of accounting/finance principles and computer systems is required.
  • Expert knowledge and orientation to risk and internal control principles is required.
  • Expert knowledge of the COSO internal controls framework and SOx compliance requirements is required.
  • Working understanding of the steel industry is required.
  • Working understanding of Dofasco business processes and business units.
  • Advanced Knowledge in Audit Board is an asset.

Work Environment

  • Office environment with some plant exposure on various projects.

Hours Of Work Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required to meet internal/external customer requirements.
