Job Description Project Engineering Intern Position Overview The Project Engineering intern participates in the mechanical and process design of cutting edge water and waste-water treatment systems, particularly those incorporating membrane technologies. This role will begin in May 2026.

As part of the Project Engineering team, you will work with a cross-functional engineering team executing custom project designs while meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget goals, and ensuring project risks are mitigated. You will work on various project deliverables ranging from front end engineering and design (FEED) through detailed engineering and then supporting equipment assembly, site installation and eventually startup.

Nature Of Work In this role under the supervision of more senior engineers, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical support for activities involved in the sizing and specification of various mechanical equipment including pumps, blowers, compressors, chemical feed systems, vessels/tanks, filters, piping systems, and valves
  • Completing hydraulic calculations
  • Back-checking of project drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment General Arrangement Drawings
  • Creating customer facing project documents including equipment BOMs, pipe service matrices, as well as valve and line lists
  • Validating that project documents and drawings are accurate and consistent
  • Providing technical support to various activities involved in the specification, procurement, fabrication, installation, and operation of specified equipment
  • Participating in project design review meetings
  • Assisting with project issue resolution related to design, construction and commissioning
  • Engaging with the project execution team (Project Manager, Mechanical Design Drafting, Electrical Instrumentation & Controls, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, and Commissioning) as well as equipment suppliers as necessary to facilitate the successful design and execution of the project

Qualifications Qualifications Do you qualify? We are seeking candidates with:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
  • Good technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers

While training will be provided, candidates may benefit from previous exposure to or experience in the following areas:

  • Fluid dynamics - pumping systems
  • Basic water chemistry
  • Reading PFDs and P&IDs

Education Heading into the final year of a Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related field.
