The Strategic Systems and Innovation Branch provides direction in information management and the use of technology (IM/IT) to support business strategies and enable strategic priorities. We serve both the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General and the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety. Our branch employs individuals who can fill a role within the increasingly dynamic nature of program delivery in the public sector.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a well-rounded professional to join our team in a full-time permanent position as a Client Services Consultant. This position will be of interest to an individual with a background in project management, business analysis, strong change management and customer service experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, and who will thrive on playing a key role in solving operational issues and in in the delivery of critical projects. The successful candidate will be a team player, who values service excellence and innovation in their work.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will work independently as well as lead various business areas in planning, management, implementation, and support of projects focused on the delivery of IT solutions to business problems. Also, must be positive, energetic, proactive, hardworking individual who thrives in a complex, quick changing in an innovative environment.
Will have knowledge of:
- Project Management methodology, principles, processes tools/techniques.
- Business Analysis best practices, in particular business case development processes and principles, requirements analysis and gathering techniques, and creation of current/future process maps.
- Application Continuous Improvement; Solution Operations Support and Maintenance.
- Assist in the development of test plans and test cases.
- Organizational Change Management (OCM) best practices and methods.
- Software license management, asset tracking, and user access protocols across ministry systems.
- IT service management platforms and tools (e.g., ServiceNow, SharePoint, Microsoft Azure DevOps for tracking, documentation, and workflow coordination.
Will have the demonstrated ability to:
- Lead business areas in the initiation, planning, management, implementation and support of IT projects focused on the delivery of technology solutions.
- Analyze and gather technical and non-technical requirements.
- Lead business areas through user acceptance testing (UAT) processes and provide quality assurance on project deliverables to ensure industry standard best practices are followed.
- Manage relationships and communications with vendors and stakeholders (internal and external).
- Support application continuous improvement processes by providing ongoing operational support and maintenance to a variety of business applications.
- Write, explain, and present technical information to a variety of non-technical groups in a simple, clear, and concise manner.
- Be client-focused, analytical, organized, adaptable, creative, and respectful.
- Maintain and organize centralized documentation for IT projects, budgets, change requests, and service requests.
- Monitoring the Service Level Coordinator (SLC) mailbox and sending out communications to both Ministries.
- Manage and support hardware and software license inventory.
- Process and monitor rush requests and service escalations, ensuring timely resolution, accurate reporting, and coordination with vendors and internal teams.
- Supports IT project delivery and service operations by coordinating resources, managing access and equipment, preparing summary reports, and participating in stakeholder and vendor meetings.
The successful candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, as well as an interest in software solutions. You will be required to provide in-person, hands-on support periodically and must be able to handle a fast-paced, high-pressured work environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines. Knowledge of Justice and Corrections programs, processes and procedures would be an asset.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required to be successful in this position would have been obtained through:
- Completion of a degree in an information technology-related discipline (Computer Science, Commerce, or Business Administration); and/or
- Completion of Project Management, Business Analysis, or Change Management certifications, and/or significant related experience.
- Experience in SharePoint, Microsoft Azure DevOps, ServiceNow would be an asset.
