About the role
About the Role SpeechLP is a fast-growing, AI-powered speech therapy and HealthTech / EdTech startup based in Toronto. We have a product that's changing lives, a passionate clinical team, and the capital to scale. Now we need growth — and we're hiring our founding Business Development Representative (BDR / SDR) to drive it. This is an entry-level sales development and business development role reporting directly to the CEO. If you're looking to break into tech sales, SaaS sales, or startup go-to-market (GTM), this is a ground-floor seat. You'll own lead generation, prospecting, cold outreach, and appointment setting — and build the outbound engine from scratch. One metric defines success: qualified meetings booked per week. What You'll Do Outbound prospecting & lead generation: Identify and research key decision-makers — Clinic Directors, School Board Superintendents, healthcare influencers, and Insurance Executives — across North America. Cold outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn): Write and send cold emails, make cold calls, and run LinkedIn outreach that cuts through the noise and gets replies. Appointment setting & calendar management: Book, confirm, and prep high-value meetings for the CEO. Keep the pipeline full and the calendar fuller. Mission-driven pitching: You're not just selling software — you're advocating for accessible speech therapy. Communicate the mission with clarity and conviction. CRM & pipeline tracking: Log activity, track conversion, and report on what's working. Who You Are A hunter: You're energized by cold outreach and comfortable hearing "no" on the way to "yes." A strong writer: You craft clear, compelling messages that busy executives actually read and reply to. Mission-aligned: Genuine interest in Special Education, Speech Therapy, child development, or healthcare accessibility. It's easier to open doors when you believe in what's behind them. Ambitious & coachable: You want to learn how a company gets built — side-by-side with a founder — and grow into an Account Executive or GTM leadership role. A strong communicator: You bring energy and enthusiasm to outreach and conversations. Requirements Based in or able to commute to Toronto (this role is onsite / in-person). Strong written communication skills. A degree or background in Psychology, Education, Business, Communications, or a related field is a plus — but drive matters more than your major. No prior sales experience required. We'll teach you the playbook. Why Join SpeechLP Founding-team role: Direct mentorship from the CEO and a real path into closing/AE roles. Mission that matters: Help expand access to speech therapy for kids and families. Funded and scaling: The capital and product are in place — you bring the velocity. Ready to start your career in tech sales? Apply now on LinkedIn. In your application, tell us in a sentence or two why you care about speech therapy or accessibility — we read every one.
