What You Will Do:
As the Environmental Services Manager (ESM), you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our residence. You’ll lead a team and manage the physical plant, including resident suites, furniture, equipment, and building systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing maintenance of equipment, furniture, and building systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical).
- Supervising Environmental Services Assistants and Housekeeping Team (if applicable).
- Managing supply sourcing and ordering with a focus on quality and cost-efficiency.
- Conducting regular painting, repairs, and ensuring furniture and fixtures are in good condition.
- Ensuring grounds and walkways are safe and clear of hazards (snow, ice, debris).
- Performing and documenting fire safety and preventative maintenance inspections.
- Utilizing software systems for maintenance scheduling and work order management.
- Leading or participating in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Conducting fire drills and training new team members on emergency procedures.
- Developing and implementing maintenance schedules (daily to annual).
- Performing minor repairs and resolving physical plant deficiencies.
- Receiving and storing non-kitchen deliveries.
- Recommending and selecting maintenance equipment purchases.
- Collaborating on suite inspections and turnovers.
- Hosting quarterly team meetings.
- Coordinating trades for inspections and repairs, ensuring quality and timely service.
- Upholding health and safety standards and promoting safe work practices.
What You Will Bring
We are looking for a hands-on leader with technical expertise and a commitment to safety and service. You will bring:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in building maintenance or housekeeping leadership in a multi-residential setting.
- Alternatively, technical experience in HVAC, fire alarm systems, plumbing, or electrical systems.
- High school diploma (Healthcare Environmental Services Management diploma is an asset).
- Proficiency in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and equipment maintenance.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
- Familiarity with fire safety equipment and procedures.
- Customer service orientation and strong communication skills.
- Physical capability to perform job duties.
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
- Willingness to be on-call and carry a cell phone.
- Flexibility to work hours necessary for residence operations.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations.
- Criminal record check and medical clearance.
