Summary:
We are seeking an individual who has some experience in accounts receivable, is skilled at time management, is highly organized, and is eager to learn. The ideal candidate would have some previous experience working in accounting at a residential property management company, and is now looking to expand their knowledge and experience at Canderel.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing and reconciliation of tenant utilities and chargebacks, processing supplier payment requests, bank reconciliations, government remittances, accounts receivable, and recoveries.
- Enter physical cheques from owners into the system
- Enter and deliver reserve deposits to the bank
- Send and review monthly charges before posting
- Enter returns & advise owners (as needed)
- Prepare aged reports
- Send statements to owners
- Keep management team updated on budgets, proactively reach out before expiration
- Check to ensure budget has been loaded correctly
- Manage Pre-Authorized Payments (PAP), including setup and account updates.
- Enter new reserve amounts
- For corporations with HST – enter the HST for the units
- Enter payments for special charges, eg., fobs/keys, guest suites, etc (as needed)
- Perform Hydro & Water recoveries, and enter receipts
- Posting corporate payroll on a semi-monthly basis.
- Liase with Property Manager on monthly basis
- Enter billings in Upperbee
- Create and send invoices/statements to owners and tenants
- Update owner registries as required
- Answer Queries from internal staff and external stakeholders
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting/commerce or related field required;
- Accounting designation or working towards a designation an asset;
- 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable or accounts receivable within a property management environment;
- Relationship Skills - Ability to communicate effectively, ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; team player;
- Organizational/Multi-Task Skills - Ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, competing priorities, ability to work at a detailed level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change;
- Computer Skills – intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of YARDI an asset.
