About the role

Organizational Overview

Founded in 1879, Lakefield College School (LCS) is a leader among Canada’s independent boarding and day schools and prides itself on its reputation for providing a strong, caring community, a well-rounded program, and a transformational student experience.

Employment at LCS is more than a "job." Because we are predominantly a boarding school, much is required of both faculty and staff. In return, the school strives to provide competitive salaries, benefits, and opportunities for growth. All members of the community are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school and to use and enjoy the beautiful grounds and facilities.

At LCS, we believe in the dignity and worth of all individuals. With approximately 440 students joining us from over 40 countries, we believe young people learn and mature best when they are encouraged to embrace their individuality within a richly diverse and supportive community. We believe that this diversity of perspectives strengthens our community.

The Role

Lakefield College School is seeking an Economics Faculty member to teach and develop our Microeconomics program. This is more than a teaching position; it is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of a program and shape its direction over time.

Our ideal colleague brings depth of subject-matter knowledge and a passion for bringing economic thinking to life. They will teach AP Microeconomics, CIA4U, and CIE3M (with CIE3M serving as the AP preparation pathway) and will have real input into what this program becomes. They will ground learning in authentic and experiential contexts wherever possible, building students' capacity to think with economic tools — to model, to analyze, and to argue from evidence in ways that extend well beyond the classroom.

Beyond teaching, our ideal colleague serves as an advisor, contributes to co-curricular life, and participates in our boarding program, where the strongest relationships at LCS are often built.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Education and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), with Economics, Social Sciences, or Business Studies as a teachable
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Experience teaching CIE3M, CIA4U, and/or AP Microeconomics
  • AP Microeconomics training with the College Board preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to design authentic, experiential, and student-centred learning experiences
  • A thoughtful, reflective approach to AI in the classroom, understanding where it enhances learning, where it has limits, and how to help students engage with it ethically
  • Strong collaborative, creative, and organizational skills
  • Effective communicator with students, parents, and colleagues
  • A demonstrated passion for working with teenagers and building strong, caring relationships
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the School's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Directions

Commencement:

  • August 24, 2026

About Lakefield College School

Education
51-200

The best thing about LCS is our people, the warm community and commitment of our students and staff. These elements lie at the core of a LCS education and the "pride of school" radiates from so many who have experiences here. Our beautiful campus, a fantastic 315-acre outdoor classroom with a lake, fields, forests and small residences, enhances this pride. It doesn't feel like a school at all. Yet, our graduates receive offers of admission to exceptional universities around the world, following their passion in a variety of fields.
