As part of NAIT’s mission to be the most relevant and responsive post-secondary institution in Canada, the School of Health and Life Sciences aims to drive the evolution of health care education in Alberta.
A great program needs great instructors and the NAIT Combined Laboratory and X-ray Program, within the School of Health and Life Sciences, requires a full-time temporary instructor to lead the delivery of curriculum in lecture and lab learning. Instructors are responsible for assisting in the effective operation and development of the program including holistic student engagement, course development, and continue improvement. Recent clinical experience in both laboratory and x-ray disciplines is required.
Key Responsibilities:

Student instruction and evaluation for lectures and labs

Regularly solicit feedback on instruction from students and colleagues and use the results to improve instructional delivery

Student support activities
-
Curriculum development for courses to include lecture and lab content, assessments, rubrics and other learning activities, as well as curriculum updates to reflect the current competency profile and industry standards

Prospective student recruitment
-
Work-integrated learning student supervision
-
Maintain professional and ethical relations with students, colleagues, and industry partners
-
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities:
-
Excellent lab and x-ray skills.
-
Proficient computer skills.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated professionalism.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Ability to juggle competing priorities.
Qualifications:
- A diploma in Combined Laboratory and X-ray
- Active Membership with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray
- CPR certification would be an asset
- Recent precepting experience would be an asset
- Related instructional experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
RemunerationWill commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay. (Instructor salary grid $34.48 - $59.98 per hour, however, starting hourly wage for a new hire average between $41.77 - 45.41 per hour based on education and experience. (Classification – Instructor).
All temporary instructor assignments are covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
