About the role

Reporting to the Body Shop Supervisor, the Body Shop Pepper/Polisher is responsible for preparing vehicles for painting, polishing finished surfaces, and ensuring a high-quality finish on all repair work. This role supports the body and paint technicians by handling surface preparation, masking, sanding, priming, and final detailing to meet manufacturer and customer standards.This is a full-time day shift position from Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, as well as the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Prepare vehicles and panels for painting by grinding, sanding, masking, cleaning, and applying primers as required to refinish surfaces
  • Inspect surfaces for imperfections and correct defects before paint application.
  • Assist paint technicians by ensuring all panels are properly prepped and ready for finishing.
  • Perform final polishing, buffing, and detailing after painting to ensure a smooth, high-gloss finish.
  • Works with boy fillers, glazes, primers, and other painting materials.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area, tools, and equipment.
  • Comply with using proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Other mechanical repair work as required.

Basic Qualifications

    • Extensive knowledge of the application of body filler (Bondo) and surface preparation for a flawless surface for paint application.
    • 2 years experience preferred in a Bodyshop environment
    • Experience with sanding, buffing and polishing body panels.
    • Work with a team and or independently and follow instructions.
    • High school diploma
    • Criminal Record Check
    • Driver's Abstract

Work Conditions

    • Physical ability to lift up to 50lb.
    • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
    • Overtime as required.
    • Hazards associated with the trade.
    • Exposure to loud noises.
    • Work both indoors and outdoors.
