Job Summary Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Store Design, the Interior Designer role drives the conceptualization and technical execution of our retail spaces. This role is central to concept creation, designing flagship stores, and developing bespoke fixtures for both Garage and Dynamite. The designer's responsibilities span from high-level conceptual renderings and schematic plans to producing detailed 3D renders and fixture concepts. We are seeking a designer with strong fluency in 3D visualization and an enthusiasm for integrating generative AI into the retail design workflow.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and conception: Collaborate in concept creation, flagship and site-specific retail concept, schematic design, and 3D render;
- Innovation: Collaborate in the development and modification of prototypes, fixtures, and design standards and implement new AI tools using artificial intelligence;
- Cross-functional collaboration: Support the coordination of internal teams (Leasing, Construction, Visual, Merchandising) to facilitate concept studies.
- Project tracking: Maintain and update project timelines, schedules, and trackers to ensure milestones are met;
- Quality control: Review shop drawings and assist in redlining construction documents under the guidance of Senior Managers.
Qualifications
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design;
- Experience: 5–7+ years of professional experience in retail design or architecture (showing a clear progression in responsibility);
- Linguistic skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is required for day-to-day communication with suppliers, employees, and stakeholders, both in Quebec and elsewhere;
- Technical mastery: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required;
- Design suite: High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/InDesign) and SketchUp or other 3D modeling software;
- Technical knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction documents, building codes, and shop drawing review processes.
- Creative problem-solver with a passion for the retail world;
- Strong communication and presentation skills;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines;
- Retail experience is a strong asset;
- Highly organized with a meticulous eye for detail;
- A collaborative "can-do" attitude and a desire to learn;
- Able to work in a fast pace and constantly evolving environment.
