The Role – Support sustainability from the ground up.
We’re looking for a dependable, safety-focused team player who takes pride in accurate and efficient handling of donated merchandise. You thrive in a fast-paced, active environment, keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards, and support smooth backroom operations. Working closely with the Merchandise Processing Supervisor, you help offload, sort, weigh, label, and transfer donations to the appropriate areas, ensuring steady flow to the sales floor, minimizing waste, and supporting recycling initiatives.
Availability requirements: This role requires open availability, including weekends, holidays, and closing shifts.
Salary Range: $17.95/hr
What You’ll Be Doing - Every Day is Game Day
Departmental Duties
- Donation Handling & Sorting:
- Offload, sort, and organize donated merchandise into the correct bins.
- Weigh, label, and record incoming items, keeping bins in proper date order.
- Monitor donation bins and transfer items for processing as needed.
- Stock Flow and Backroom Operations:
- Replenish sub-department stock levels and relocate re-routed bins.
- Safely dispose of unsellable or ragged merchandise following company procedures.
- Support baling, compacting, recycling, and back-stock organization.
- Assist with sale-day preparation and general operational tasks
- Safety, Cleanliness, & Compliance:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free processing and donation area.
- Operate balers, compactors, and forklifts (if certified) using proper safety steps.
- Practice safe lifting, wear required PPE, and report hazards immediately.
- Support basic administrative tasks such as recording weights and inventory data
What You Bring - Skills That Turn Heads
Must-Haves:
- 1+ years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Safety compliance.
- Operational efficiency.
- Technical and mechanical proficiency
Great to Haves:
- Previous experience operating a forklift, bailer, or garbage compactor.
- Previous work in a thrift retail environment.
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence with 3 years of experience driving delivery vans.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and moving throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull rolling containers up to 500 lbs.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, insects, garbage, and occasional rodents.
- Noisy environment with varying temperatures.
- Availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Regular interaction with customers and the public.
