About the role

The Chemistry Department at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for up to four 4-month sessional positions starting January 2, 2026.

In this lab-oriented position, candidates will create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment while teaching labs in general and/or organic chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented track record of a successful, reflective laboratory teaching practice at the post-secondary level. Successful candidates may teach one or more of the following:

CHEM 1510, 1520 general chemistry labs

CHEM 2220 organic chemistry labs

Our department is a collection of passionate chemistry educators interested in inspiring the next generation of chemists. The department offers BSc Majors in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Biology, as well as service courses to Engineering (ENG) and other departments.

The Faculty of Science is a community of diverse learners and opportunities. With programs in Natural Resource Sciences, Biology, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science, Respiratory Therapy, Veterinary Technology and Architectural Engineering and Technology, students come to TRU to learn what they love. QUALIFICATIONS

We seek applicants with a strong track-record of excellence in scholarly teaching in the field of general, and/or organic chemistry. Applicants who are close to completion of their relevant MSc are welcome to apply and will be considered. The position entails creating and maintaining a positive, engaging learning environment and inspiring students in their chemistry studies. Accordingly, applicants must demonstrate high standards and success in laboratory safety and demonstrated lab skills.

This position is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain additional experience in post-secondary teaching.
