The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance/Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering & Reliability Team in Long Harbour, NL. Relocation to the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador will be required for this role.

This is a permanent on-site position**,** working a 4x10s Monday to Thursday schedule at our Long Harbour Operations Site.

As a Mechanical Maintenance/Reliability Engineer you will be responsible for delivering improved performance of the assets by implementing and optimizing the reliability program for the processing facilities they support. Your experience and skills will assist on-site technical maintenance support, engineering, and screening/scoping as well as aiding with the repair scopes of work and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Provide on-site maintenance engineering support during equipment failures to ensure rapid restoration of operations and reduce recurrence through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations and execution teams to lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on asset performance, infrastructure upgrades, and optimized repair cycles.
  • Work closely with Operations, Procurement, Maintenance, Engineering, Document Control, vendors, and OEMs to resolve technical issues and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Apply value analysis (cost-benefit assessments) to guide decisions on equipment repair, replacement, or redesign, ensuring optimal asset utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain asset strategies using tools like Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), focusing on lifecycle management and operational readiness.
  • Conduct reliability studies and trend analysis using KPIs such as MTTR and MTBF to identify bad actors, optimize maintenance plans, and improve overall equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with site personnel to refine preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective execution through improved methodology and sequencing.
  • Lead engineering design, scoping, project management, and procurement for maintenance-related initiatives, while recommending strategic investments in technology and equipment to enhance asset value.

About You

Education:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree is required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of Maintenance and/or Reliability Engineering experience.
  • Previous Reliability and Maintenance experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience applying RCM principles is considered an asset.
  • Experience in Reliability Based Inspection, Reliability Centred Analysis, and Reliability Systems Analysis software.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of codes, regulations, and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills in SAP would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
