About The Role Under the supervision of the Director Supply Chain, and working closely with the production team, the buyer is responsible for coordinating procurement activities related to production needs. He or she provides operations support and is required to work daily with the engineering team. Furthermore, the buyer is responsible for the inventory management of electronic components, material and inventory tracking. He or she performs various planning and qualification functions for sources of supply. The buyer is being responsible for negotiating agreements on purchase of computer equipment and licenses. He or she is always able to provide the organization with top-quality components that respect cost and delivery deadlines.
What You'll Do
- Queries, issues and track POs;
- Maintain and optimize the MRP provisioning system settings in MISys;
- Controls the inventory level of materials and production supplies;
- Performs the relaunch with suppliers and ensure the delivery dates update;
- Participates in the negotiation and compliance of annual agreements with suppliers;
- Assists planning, quality, engineering, payables and other teams to solve their vendors issues;;
- Seek opportunities for cost reduction and inventory control;
- Participates in various projects aimed at improving processes relating to the supply chain;
- Make all purchase (or rental) for computer electronic equipment, software licenses, hardware, furniture and office supplies (phones), etc. and track orders until receipt;
- Any other related task.
Qualifications
- DEC in administration, logistics, supply chain management and/or a combination of equivalent training and experience;
- 5 years of experience in a similar position;
- Experience in purchasing custom products (harnesses, sheet metal, machined products, subsystems);
- Experience in purchasing electronic components and equipment;
- Demonstrated expertise in ERP;
- Work rigorously and demonstrate strong teamwork skills;
- Able to interact easily with employees of all departments;
- Versatile, autonomous, with good judgement, rigor, organized and detailed oriented;
- Leadership and strong ability to manage priorities;
- Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written, to ensure effective communication with our global suppliers;
- Experience in a high-tech, telecommunications company (an asset);
- Mastering the computerized management system principles and knowledge of MISys (an asset).
