The Ministry of Social Services is seeking a highly motivated, service-oriented and committed professional to join the Accommodations unit. The Senior Project and Accommodations Coordinator is responsible for accommodations projects and operations tasks for the Ministry office locations across the province, through a shared service agreement.

You will have knowledge of:

  • Project management techniques.
  • Space planning practices.
  • The Purchasing Act and best practices for procurement.

You will have the demonstrated ability to:

  • Verbally and in writing, provide clear, concise and timely information in response to often complex inquiries at a level appropriate to the audience.
  • Diplomatically facilitate a discussion of relevant issues using persuasion and mediation skills to reach a mutually agreeable or workable solution with a variety of people.
  • Apply good judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential information and sensitive issues.
  • Provide direction/corrections to internal/external individuals in order to ensure compliance with policies/programs/legislation.
  • Use a variety of software programs, including auto-cad, word-processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Analyze issues, identify and develop options and solutions, and make policy recommendations in order to meet overall government goals and client needs.
  • Independently plan and organize multiple, complex tasks and projects, taking into consideration conflicting and changing priorities.

  • Thorough, conscientious and attentive to detail to ensure accuracy and provide quality service.

In this position, you will:

  • Apply knowledge of project management practices, building operations and space planning in the provision of managing the accommodations and operations on behalf of the Ministry.
  • Manage over 65 building leases, totaling approximately 43,540 m2 of office and warehouse space throughout the province.
  • Manage the services necessary to support the day-to-day operations of the Ministries, including repair and renovation schedules, procurement of office equipment, building swing space access, furniture inventory, parking, etc.
  • Travel to various offices across the province to attend meetings and tour construction sites.

The candidate of choice will have:

  • Knowledge of project management techniques and space planning practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices and the Purchasing Act.
  • The ability to lead and coordinate the space planning process for branches in liaison with government facility planner staff.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze issues, identify and develop options and solutions, and make policy recommendations.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and display strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, adapting topic discussions for applicable audiences.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position are gained through completion of a diploma or certificate (project management, public policy, architecture, business, etc.) or relevant experience.
