About the role
Are you finally looking for a role where your reliability, accuracy, and attention to detail will truly be valued? Our client, a well-established and stable retail company, is seeking a Senior Accounting Technician ready to become a key contributor within the finance department, supporting operations across Canada and the United States. If you thrive in well-organized environments where each day brings tangible progress and where your work makes a real impact, this opportunity may be the perfect fit for you.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including daily transactions, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly and annual closings.
- Oversee the entire accounts payable process: invoice processing, purchase order matching, approvals, and payment preparation.
- Perform monthly financial analyses (P&L, general ledger, balance sheet, cash flow) and identify variances, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Actively participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts in support of the finance leadership team.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.
- Perform rent and tax reconciliations, ensuring payment accuracy and proper accounting entries.
- Serve as a technical reference for the accounting team by helping prioritize tasks, optimize processes, and support colleagues on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, internal teams) to resolve operational and accounting issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to work methods, tools, and accounting systems.
- Perform any other related duties.
If you are ready to take on new challenges, we would love to meet you!
Why join this opportunity?
- A stable, structured, and well-organized work environment, ideal for someone who values accuracy and consistency.
- A rewarding role where your accounting expertise and attention to detail will have a direct, daily impact.
- The opportunity to hold a key position within a collaborative and experienced accounting team.
- A professional environment focused on rigor, efficiency, and quality rather than pressure or overperformance.
- Quick onboarding and ongoing support from the existing team.
Requirements:
- AEC, DEC, or DEP in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor’s degree accepted if completed outside Canada).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, including full-cycle accounting.
- Strong Excel skills, including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Comfort working with accounting systems and managing high volumes of transactions.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Advanced bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written), with English used approximately 50% of the time to communicate with English-speaking clients.
- Experience with U.S. accounting (an asset).
