Environmental Data Management Specialist
About the role
Company Description Terran Data Inc. (TDI) provides services related to environmental data management for customers who collect, manage, and report environmental data. Our customers are environmental professionals who need software to manage their environmental monitoring data.
Role Description You will deliver consulting services related to environmental data management to your professional peers. Work independently from your home office, with flexible hours. Explore new directions for products, services, and special projects depending on your specific area of professional expertise, while at the same time relying on a base of established customers to provide a consistent component of ongoing work.
You will provide training and other instructions on the use of software for managing environmental data sets.
The ability to communicate well with other environmental professionals is essential for this position. Fluency in French or Spanish at the written, spoken, and professional conversational level is a definite asset.
This position may start as a contract or part time position, leading to a full-time salaried position within a few months. Responsibilities Conduct training workshops to roll out new Environmental Data Management (EDM) Systems Market software products and services to environmental professionals Provide technical support to software users Produce training materials, and other technical documentation Design and implement custom EDM solutions, including Excel-based solutions, SQL queries, and other neat stuff!
Education and Skills A bachelor’s degree in science/engineering, or a technical diploma, in a relevant field Experience in environmental monitoring Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and productively from a home office Ability to take complex issues and simplify them in written and verbal form Good decision-making skills and attention to detail Strong skills in Data Quality management Proficiency in Data Management Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office
The ideal candidate will have experience running an environmental monitoring program, together with several years experience as an Environmental Technician, Environmental Scientist, Environmental Coordinator, Environmental Engineer, or Environmental Manager.

Terran Data Inc. (TDI) provides consulting services related to data management for large and small businesses in Canada and abroad. We provide technical support for proprietary database users, advanced training for Excel users, and undertake data management projects.
TDI provides all customer sales and support services to EQWin users on behalf of EQWin Software Inc. EQWin is a software product that stores and manages environmental monitoring data. EQWin focuses on the requirements for collecting, analyzing, storing, and interpreting sample data from monitoring programs where specified points are typically sampled on a routine schedule and measured for a wide variety of physical, chemical, bacteriological, biological, and other parameters.
Our lead consultants have decades of experience in environmental management, including site management, impact assessments, and monitoring programs. All these experiences are brought together when setting up an environmental data management system that meets the specific needs of each site or project.
We develop novel data models and implement them in custom data management systems. We routinely set up new databases for clients and populate them with data from historic sources.
We perform systematic and comprehensive audits of existing databases to identify and fix errors, anomalies, and data conformity issues. We can evaluate current data management practices and provide recommendations for changes that will improve data quality control and assurance (QA/QC) and the efficiency of managing data.
In recent years we have completed data management projects for customers in Canada, South Africa, Ghana, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali, Tanzania, USA, Chile, Argentina and other countries, including local training delivered in English, French and Spanish.
