About the role
About the Role Our client is a long-established, Canadian-owned business, backed by long-term capital. This is a senior operations leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO and leading the company’s Greater Vancouver operation, with a seat on the senior leadership team.
The Opportunity This is a hands-on leadership role for an operator who is as comfortable on the warehouse floor as in the boardroom. You will lead a warehouse and logistics operation through a demanding, seasonal cycle, with an experienced, tenured team that does its best work for a leader who is present and in it with them.
The team is proud of how it works. The right leader will honour that and bring the structure, calm, and improvement thinking that takes the operation further, earning trust on the floor and building change with people rather than handing it down. The role has real runway: the business is shaping its next phase, and this seat helps shape it.
What You'll Do:
Lead the Operation Provide steady, calm, present leadership to an operational team across warehouse, logistics, fleet, maintenance, and facilities. Partner closely with commercial leadership to keep operations and commercial aligned on priorities, timelines, and customer commitments. Develop your team and give clear feedback, building a culture where issues are surfaced, learned from, and resolved. Represent the operation on the senior leadership team.
Run an Excellent Operation Own warehouse, logistics, fleet, and inventory across the operation. Use operational data to manage daily throughput, resource allocation, and staffing across the cycle. The seasonal swing is significant; planning for it and leading the team through it is central to the role. Ensure work is completed and delivered on time, every time. Monitor quality, address issues systematically, and bring patterns forward with proposed solutions. Manage vendor relationships and inventory to meet customer expectations and reduce loss. Lead a planned site consolidation in the near term. Planning is largely complete; this is an execution and transition responsibility.
Drive Continuous Improvement Early in your tenure, diagnose the operation: understand how it works and where improvement will have the most impact, and build a focused set of initiatives to execute over the longer term. Use performance data to drive quality improvements, not just report on them. Share operational knowledge across the wider organization and adopt what works better elsewhere. Lead capital projects, including equipment, infrastructure, and storage optimization, that reduce cost, improve capacity, or raise quality.
Own the Budget and the Numbers Manage the operating budget, tracking labour, maintenance, and equipment costs against plan, and report performance to the CEO. Manage to the operation’s profitability. Your bonus is tied primarily to how it performs financially; you are accountable for the numbers, not just the operations.
Champion Health, Safety, and Culture Champion a culture of safety across all departments: training, standards, regular inspections, and prompt reporting of incidents and near-misses. Build an environment where people show up, do good work, and take pride in it.
What You Bring Experience A demonstrated track record in operations, warehouse, logistics, or distribution leadership, with multi-department or multi-site scope. Experience leading teams through seasonal peaks and operational intensity, staying a steady presence when the pace demands it. Experience managing a P&L or operating budget at a meaningful scale. Hands-on experience with warehouse management or operational systems. Sector experience matters less than operational capability. We welcome leaders from a range of operations-intensive backgrounds.
Leadership You earn trust on the floor. You know what is happening in your operation because you are present in it, not just reviewing reports about it. You are calm when the pace is high. This is a fast-moving, time-critical environment, and the team reads the leader’s tone every day. You build lateral relationships and shared ownership with peers. You bring people through change with care, respecting strong existing habits and building with them rather than overriding them.
Strategic Range You can diagnose a business, not just run one: observe what is actually happening, name it clearly, and build a plan to address it. You think about what comes next and engage with the direction of the business, not just your own function.
Compensation and Benefits A competitive base salary, commensurate with experience and profile. A performance bonus, weighted primarily to the operation’s profitability against budget. A seat on the senior leadership team, and a comprehensive benefits package.
