Reporting to the Manager, Pricing, the Senior Pricing Specialist will play a key role in supporting and optimizing the Firm’s pricing models and strategies. The Senior Pricing Specialist will be responsible for providing financial and profitability analysis on business proposals, and supporting the lawyers in developing, analyzing, and executing creative, workable pricing solutions in response to client pricing demands.

Major Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Client Development team and lawyers to assist with the pricing aspect of more complex Request For Proposals
- Develop Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs) and fee estimates and provide related financial analysis and pricing scenario modeling for Partners and the Billing Management Committee (BMC) to assist in making key business decisions
- Support the enhancement of tools and processes to further improve efficiency, including systems to capture billing arrangements, monitor pricing performance, and tools to streamline budget creation and legal project management
- Assist with the development of processes and tools to evaluate profitability of various types of engagements
- Analyze fee data of existing matters and developing budget templates for different matter types
- Assist with various projects in relation to client profitability and pricing initiatives
- Support the annual client and matter rate renewal process
- Provide pricing-related training, coaching, and advice to Firm Management, Partners, and Associates
- Train junior team members as required
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
The position requires a university degree in a business discipline and a minimum of five years of progressive experience in finance-related field, including analytics in a law firm or other professional service industry. A professional designation in the field of finance or analytics is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical skills and financial acumen
- Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship management skills
- Working knowledge of pricing, alternative fee arrangements, negotiation tactics and cost of services in a legal or professional services environment is an asset
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Experience in project management is an asset
- Strong proficiency in Excel (advanced level), SQL, MS Access, ADERANT, and Microsoft SQL Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes is an asset
We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Compensation
The range of expected compensation for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of factors including job-related knowledge, education, skills and experience.
