We are currently seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician to support our continued growth. This is a long-term position.

Overview:

As a Field Service Technician, you will work independently in a company repair truck after completing training, traveling to customer sites to perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on waste management equipment such as compactors and balers. The role requires flexibility to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and understand electrical circuit, hydraulic schematics, and blueprints to accurately diagnose and complete repairs

  • Perform repair, installation, software updates, and equipment upgrades efficiently

  • Use mobile handheld devices to receive and complete work orders, including parts tracking, recording hours, interacting with customers, and uploading photos

  • Communicate effectively with customers on-site to understand their needs, discuss repair plans, and offer recommendations to enhance service

  • Maintain a strong focus on safety by adhering to BaleForce policies and all customer site regulations

  • Complete required safety training, testing, and compliance documentation promptly

  • Follow all onsite safety procedures, including entering secure facilities when required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of industrial hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with waste and recycling equipment is a plus, but training will be provided
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing devices such as ultrasonic sensors, photo-eyes, pressure transducers, solenoids, relays, and limit switches
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is highly desirable
  • Welding and grinding skills (Stick/Arc) are an asset
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be bondable
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Certified or experienced in Forklift operation, Boom lifts, Working at Heights, Aerial platforms, Confined Spaces, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and harness use

Experience:

  • Hydraulic: 3 years (required)
  • Electrical: 3 years (required)
  • Schematics Reading: 3 years (required)
  • Mechanical Repair: 3 years (required)
  • Programmable logic controllers: 1 year (preferred)
  • Welding and Grinding: 3 years (required)

Work Environment:

This role requires physical endurance and flexibility, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, twisting, and working in confined spaces with limited lighting, as well as performing tasks at heights.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, IN-PERSON

Monday- Friday (Occasional Weekends & OT)

License/Certification:

  • Class G License with a clean driving record (required)

Willingness to Travel:

  • 75% (required)
