Title:  Lead Engineer - Systematic Strategies Group

Duration:  Full-Time (Permanent)

Location:  Downtown Toronto

Hybrid Work Model:  4-day/week Onsite, Fri WFH

Salary Range:  Base + Bonus & Benefits 

Challenges with the Role:

• Balancing leadership and hands-on coding (candidate must be comfortable with ~20% coding)

• Strong stakeholder management skills required due to heavy engagement with Investments and Analytics teams

• Need a candidate with both deep technical skills (Java/AI) and domain knowledge in Capital Markets

What They Will Accomplish (High-Level):

• Enforce engineering best practices and agile principles across the group

• Drive system performance improvements and quality metrics

• Oversee code reviews, architecture, and DevOps/QA alignment

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable technology solutions for public markets

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Review codebases and ensure adherence to best engineering practices

• Provide architectural guidance and oversee delivery pipelines

• Engage with Investments and Analytics stakeholders to understand needs and align on solutions

• Hands-on coding when capacity allows (~20% of time)

• Assess and guide QA/DevOps teams to hit performance benchmarks

Must-Haves:

• Strong knowledge of Capital Markets (public markets, FX, equities, derivatives, etc.)

• Deep Java expertise (Spring Boot, Core Java, data pipelines, React integration)

• Hands-on AI experience

• Strong leadership presence and excellent communication skills

• Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams

Plusses / Nice-to-Haves:

• AWS cloud experience (deployment, scaling, architecture)
