Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess a minimum of a two-year diploma in Chemical Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from a recognized institution
- 5 years of experience in an industrial quality control laboratory
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Experience with LIMS or SAP
- Knowledge of ASTM methods for petroleum testing
- Strong organizational and workload management skills
- Good communication and teamwork
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills are required
Responsibilities:
- Execute daily laboratory analysis on crude oil, intermediates, and finished products using approved SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Maintain, calibrate, and verify the performance of laboratory instruments (e.g., gas chromatographs, viscometers)
- Record samples collected in the LIMS system and apply the appropriate labels
- Take initiative while performing routine and project based sampling and analytical work on petroleum and wastewater samples
- Show commitment and dedication to safe work practices, procedures and standards
- Participate in lab quality programs and troubleshoot non-conformance trends
Location & Other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
- The shift schedule is a 4 day a week with the requirement to work one weekend day every 5 weeks. with the potential for extended work. Hours will be based on business needs. This position is overtime eligible
- This is unionized position
- Being in a laboratory, there is a significant risk of exposure to chemicals
- The environment requires the use of PPE; safety boots, safety glasses, respiratory equipment, safety gloves, hearing protection, and specialized safety equipment (clothing, smocks, face shields)
