One of the sunniest regions in BC’s Lower Mainland, Delta embraces three unique communities – Ladner, North Delta and Tsawwassen. The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused Cultural Services Leader to join our team at the Discovery Centre. This front-line role greets and welcomes guests and volunteers while providing information about the facility, exhibits, and programs. The successful candidate will help visitors engage with both physical artifacts and digital components and support a positive and engaging visitor experience.
In this role, you will promote self-guided tours, lead school and public programs, and assist with the planning and delivery of activities and special events. You will also support exhibit installation and takedown, assist with maintaining displays and collections, and help process and digitize collection items. Additional duties include performing reception tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, assisting visitors and exhibitors with inquiries, and supporting opening and closing procedures. The Cultural Services Leader will also assist with promotional materials, maintain supplies, and support volunteers and other operational needs of the Discovery Centre.
The position requires the ability to work independently within established guidelines while referring complex or unusual issues to a supervisor.
##Qualifications
- Sound knowledge of local culture, history, and heritage.
- Knowledge of procedures related to exhibit setup and takedown, including handling artifacts and digital components.
- Knowledge of assisting with the coordination of programs, activities, and special events.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, including reception duties such as responding to visitor inquiries by phone, email, and in person.
- Ability to assist with the development, implementation, and promotion of programs and special events.
- Ability to lead school and public programs.
- Ability to assist with exhibit installation and coordination.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, volunteers, and the public.
##Education & Experience
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by coursework related to arts, culture, or heritage and some related experience working in a recreational or cultural services setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
##Required Certifications
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR Level C
- AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Certification
The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $24.97 - $29.20 per hour + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays and benefits. Interested applicants are requested to apply online by April 19, 2026.
