Building Management System Operator
About the role
Our client operates high-performing commercial properties with a tenant-first, safety-focused approach.
Join them in Mississauga as Building Operator.
Your New Employer
Our client is known for responsive service, rigorous health & safety practices, and a commitment to well-run, sustainability-minded buildings.
Notably, they take pride in their recognition as one of Canada's Top Small and Medium Employers year-over-year, underscoring their ongoing dedication to excellence.
Your New Role
As Building Operator, you’ll be the on-site pro who keeps the property humming. You’ll handle daily rounds and inspections, respond to tenant work orders, and coordinate contractors—solving problems quickly and professionally.
You’ll maintain logbooks; conduct water-treatment and critical system checks (generators, elevators, fire); support after-hours emergencies; and ensure standards consistent with LEED/BOMA-calibre operations. You’ll monitor services (HVAC, life safety, interior/exterior maintenance), action deficiencies, manage inventories and POs, and participate in the on-call rotation with occasional overtime.
You’ll also support small construction projects and “green” initiatives that reduce energy use and maximize waste diversion.
What Sets You Apart
You bring 2+ years of building/property operations experience with strong mechanical aptitude and customer service skills.
You have working knowledge of BAS, preventative maintenance, HVAC, life safety, hazardous materials handling, plumbing, door hardware, and electrical systems; experience with Trane BAS and rooftop units is an asset.
BES I/II (or equivalent), along with solid computer literacy and familiarity with construction practices. You’re a clear communicator who thrives in a fast-moving, team-oriented environment and can work independently under pressure. A valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle is required; First Aid/CPR/AED certification is a plus.
Your adaptability is crucial, as you should be open to learning and evolving to develop strategies that will future-proof the asset.
In the face of a constantly changing landscape, you will serve as a technology champion, utilizing available tools to automate and enhance operational efficiencies.
