About the role

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Finance & Planning unit within Retail and Business Banking Operations (RBBO) in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Provides support to the Finance & Planning Senior Manager and business unit leaders in an FP&A capacity, including the preparation and analysis of expense reporting, budgeting, forecasting and planning, business line allocations, and project assignments. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Assists in the planning, forecasting, and control of operational expenses for the RBBO transits with responsibility for the accuracy of financial information for Actual/Plan/Forecast with reasonability and checks.
  • Facilitates the processing, planning, and analysis of Staffing for RBBO complement, workload, agency, and consultants.
  • Prepares and delivers accurate and timely analysis of monthly variance reporting by communicating with individuals in the various business units and Canadian Banking Finance.
  • Captures and consolidates data of actuals from the business units and reports results to business leaders on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Supports the efforts of streamlining and building financial models, automating reporting processes and developing process controls.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen business line relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Supports and assists in implementing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Skills and Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large models and complex formulas
  • Specific functional or product knowledge: Microsoft Office 365, EGL, OBI, Hyperion, Smartview, bank applications, general ledgers
  • A good understanding of financial and management reporting principles; ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank’s and Canadian Banking’s strategy, operations and procedures
  • Strong analytical, problems-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to streamline processes for efficient workflows between business lines
